To replenish the crushed ice of said upper hopper (9), it is possible to use manual or automatic feeding means, in various embodiments of the invention. Also, another function of the upper hopper (9) is to act as a limiting surface of the crushed ice that is on the rotary molding platforms (2), at the beginning of the manufacturing process. Preferably, the upper hopper (9) will not completely cover the upper part of the assembly, in order to leave free space for the pressing module (4), as well as for the extraction of compacted ice outside the system, as it goes forming as part of the manufacturing process.
Figure 3 shows, in a preferred embodiment of the invention, a rotary molding platform (2), whose function is to serve as a mold for crushed ice, in addition to being used as a transport surface for crushed ice and compacted ice, throughout the manufacturing process. Said rotary molding platform (2) preferably comprises a plurality of interchangeable patterns (10), equipped with one or more molding holes (11). The functions of said patterns (10) are, mainly, to be easily replaceable in case of breakdown or maintenance and give the ability to have different technical specifications for the molds of compacted ice, both in size and shape, which are given correspondingly by the size and shape of the molding holes (11), which can adopt a cylindrical design, prism, etc. The said interchangeable patterns (10) are integrated in their respective rotary molding platforms (2), forming the mold of the compacted ice itself. The crushed ice that is on the rotary molding platform (2) will thus fall inside said molding holes (11) and, as it passes through the pressing module (4), will be compacted by the pressure exerted by the pressing cylinders (6) until compacted according to the desired shape.
Figures 5 and 6 show, in a preferred embodiment, the elements of the compression module (5), in addition to the rotary molding platform (2). Said compression module (5) comprises, in a preferred embodiment of the invention: a plurality of wheels (12, 13), preferably distributed as a group of outer wheels (12) and a group of inner wheels (13), guided by corresponding guidance tracks (14, 15) (Figure 6), which together generate the linear movements necessary to compress the crushed ice; a set of lower pistons (16) and pressing cylinders (6), and a set of lower wheel carrier arms (17) and of
